Terminations of EOR employees are not effective until notice is delivered directly from the legal employer, Borderless. Please wait until a representative from Borderless reaches out to finalize details with your team before sending any termination-related communication to the employee.
Termination Request Process
To initiate an employee's termination, navigate to the Hires tab, and select the employee. This will bring you to the employee's Overview tab, where you will click the "Request termination" button on their contract.Â
If any company property needs to be returned, please specify in the details section.Â
Once you complete the termination request, a Borderless representative will reach out to confirm and finalize details.Â
Additional Termination Request Requirements
Termination requirements such as advance notice and providing cause are dependant on the employee's jurisdiction and contract terms. Please reach out to support@hireborderless.com should you have any questions on this.Â
Termination Request Timing
As a general rule of thumb, termination requests should be submitted as early as possible to give Borderless enough time to coordinate a compliant and smooth termination.Â
For US EOR employees, termination requests must be submitted at least 2 business days in advance of the desired effective termination date.Â
For all other EOR employees, termination requests must be submitted at least 5 business days in advance of the desired effective termination date.Â
Please note that certain jurisdictions have a longer termination process, and will require more time for Borderless to finalize.Â
Termination Timing
Unless otherwise specified, the employee will receive their termination notice along with any necessary forms on the confirmed termination effective date. On this date, their Borderless contract status will update to "Inactive", but you will still be able to access their profile and details.Â
